Editorial Standards

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Our Mission

Elevator Trade News exists to provide independent, factual, and timely coverage of the vertical transportation industry. We serve elevator mechanics, contractors, consultants, building owners, OEM professionals, and industry executives with reporting that is useful, accurate, and free from commercial influence.

Independence

Elevator Trade News operates independently and is not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any elevator OEM, contractor, or industry trade association. Our editorial decisions are made solely based on newsworthiness and relevance to our readership. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage or allow advertisers to influence our reporting.

Sourcing Standards

Every article published on Elevator Trade News includes a sources section listing the materials used in reporting. We rely on the following categories of sources:

  • Official company communications: Press releases, investor presentations, SEC filings, and corporate announcements issued directly by the companies covered
  • Regulatory documents: Federal Register notices, OSHA enforcement data, ASME standards publications, and state code adoption records
  • Industry publications: Reporting from established trade publications including Elevator World, which has covered the industry since 1953
  • Market research: Published analyses from recognized market research firms, cited with attribution
  • Public data: Bureau of Labor Statistics occupational data, Census Bureau construction statistics, and other government sources

When we aggregate information from multiple sources, we attribute each factual claim to its origin. When we provide analysis or commentary, we clearly distinguish it from factual reporting.

Accuracy and Verification

We verify key facts, figures, and claims against primary sources before publication. Market data, financial figures, and statistical claims are cross-referenced against at least two independent sources when possible. When a single-source claim is included, the source is clearly identified so readers can assess its reliability independently.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly and transparently. If a factual error is identified in a published article:

  • The article is updated with the correct information
  • A correction note is added to the article indicating what was changed and when
  • If the error was material enough to change the meaning or conclusions of the article, a correction notice is included in the next newsletter edition

To report an error, contact [email protected] with the article URL and the specific information you believe is inaccurate, along with any supporting documentation.

Coverage Principles

  • Fairness. We cover all major industry participants, including OEMs, independent contractors, unions, and building owners, with the same standards of fairness and scrutiny
  • Relevance. We prioritize stories that have direct, practical implications for working professionals in the elevator trade
  • Proportionality. Market projections and growth figures are reported in context, including caveats about methodology and uncertainty where appropriate
  • No proprietary data. We do not publish proprietary technical data, copyrighted code content, OEM trade secrets, or confidential controller information

AI-Assisted Production

Elevator Trade News uses AI tools in its editorial workflow, including research aggregation, draft composition, and data synthesis. All content is reviewed and verified by human editors before publication. AI-assisted production does not diminish our commitment to accuracy, attribution, and editorial standards. The use of AI allows a small editorial operation to provide daily industry coverage that would otherwise require a significantly larger staff.

Conflicts of Interest

Elevator Trade News is published by IntentMesh LLC, which also develops PullSheet, a business invoicing application for the elevator industry. This relationship is disclosed here and does not influence our editorial coverage. We do not provide favorable coverage to companies based on any business relationship with IntentMesh LLC.
